Random Post/New Year

Greetings!
Again, I'm sorry for not posting/commenting much, my mind has been in a state of haze...I feel like a lazy Gothslob, since December started my days have mainly consisted of sleeping and movie watching, just trying to keep myself above my depression/the foul Australian summer.

This year was quite hard, but at the same time it was needed. I had to grow up so much, and if all my troubles hadn't fallen on me I wouldn't probably have matured enough to become a Goth...

Although I am not at all looking forward to next year I will try to post and comment more often, maybe I'll even make a few more videos if anyone thought I was alright in the Accent Challenge. :)

Okay, well. I don't have much more to say, I just thought I'd write a little post, so see you later I suppose...

Sort of Babybat Post

Greetings!

It’s been a long time since we had a ‘baby bat’ post, so I guess now’s the time to bring out some of my failures in the Goth world…and otherwise.

Baby bat Blues part 2:

As you might have noticed, I haven’t really been all that into posting lately and what I have done is pretty slack and might I say, boring? I say this because it appears that no one has commented recently, so either something is wrong with the blog (tell me if so) or my posts just haven’t been too good.

….Well, the baby bat blues portion for today is mainly a topic on self-esteem and depression.

Due to several reasons, for the past couple of months I’ve been quite depressed, well, this has been going on ever since my 3rd friend who I thought was going to be my FIRST best friend left me just like the first 2.

Maybe I’m just too different...When with people I have fun and all, but for a major part I’m just too ‘old school’ for most people’s tastes, and I have little interest in current events and entertainment.

Anyhow.

Due to this depression, I haven’t been all that experimentive in the ways of clothing and makeup, and due to my self-esteem issues I don’t really like dressing up these days. So, sorry about the lack of hair and makeup posts/DECENT outfit posts.

Note: Another reason is I think my sense of combining clothes is still pretty bad…a common babybat thing I guess.

Also I think I’ve finished the ‘Goth monthly celebration’ things, it was fun during the first few months, but now I’m not sure if I or anyone else appreciates them much. So, even at the big 6 month celebration, I don’t think I’ll be doing much.

Well, sorry for this rather bad post, I just thought you should know what’s going on.

Outfit Post - Alice Inspiration, with a special guest!

Greetings!

Here is the second outfit I have for you today, this one is not store bought, I formed it myself, bascially the inspiration is from Alice in Wonderland.

The special guest: My dwarf rabbit Crowley!

Outfit: White and black striped tights, striped vest, net shirt, black skirt, white petticoat skirt, black lace up ankle boots.

The outfit was thought of: Alice and the white rabbit.

HE IS TOO CUTE and CUDDLEY!!!

Note: Although I've been raising and breeding rabbits for 4 years, Crowley is a special lad. I found him running wild around the neighbors' yard, and since he belonged to no one, I took him as a pet. And the irony? I found him the day after we had watched Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland.

Sorry this time I didn't get a decent shot of my makeup, I just got nice black eyeshadow today that worked a charm, and a nice dark red lipstick, that when composed with black lipstick gave off a nice purpley red color.

Saturday Movie Review - The Woman in White

Greetings!
I regret to say that my first 'Saturday movie review' is a few days late, as unfortunately from late Friday night until just this afternoon I've been feeling terribly ill.

But, as I feel a good deal better now, I randomly picked a movie off of my list to review, here goes:

THE WOMAN IN WHITE

Based upon Wilkie Collins Victorian mystery, the gothic tale tells of a pair of half sisters, Marian and Laura whose lives end up caught in a grand conspiracy revolving around a mentally ill woman dressed in white. As the story unfolds, murder, love, marriage, and greed stand between the two sisters and happy lives. Their only hope is the secret the woman in white waits to tell them.

I found this movie to be well acted, quite suspensful and it was a very good mystery plot. It's based in the Victorian times, but unlike many Victorian based tales, this one had a considerably darker asthetic, something I would liken to the general feel of 'Dracula'.

It shows quite a decent look into the treatment of women at the time, conspiraces, Victorian fashion, Victorian asylums, abusive relationships, and it would be well counted as a mystery murder story.

I give this movie a 9 out of 10, and I recommend you take a look if you're into this sort of genre.

Long time Post - Hopeful end of Hiatus and Saturday Movie

Greetings, all readers.
Again, I'm sorry I haven't posted anything except Friday the 13th things in quite a while so I hope to be getting on well again with outfit posts (I got my Medieval dress yesterday!) hairstyles, monthly posts and a new addition of random movie reviews and room design and art posts.

And, even though it IS a tad silly, there will be talk of my miserable baby bat experiences.

Friday the 13th Things - 13 Halloween Activities for my Future Reference

Greetings!
I am sorry to have not posted much, but between the rush that is catching up on late schoolwork, working double to pay off my medieval dress, and the fact that I haven't been sleeping all that well lately due to stress and bad dreams, I don't really have much good to say.

Also, I regret to say that on November 17 I forgot to acknowledge that it was a monthly celebration, me being 5 months as a Goth. Ah well. Come December it'll be the grand celebration of 6 months, I will catch up then.

Now, on with Friday the 13th Things Survey.

1: Carve Jack o' Lanterns and Turnip Lanterns

2: Buy a myriad of candles and put them all over my future house.

5: Dress up in a traditional costume (Not one of those silly fairy/fireman/princess outfits, rather zombie, mummy, GHOST, vampire, such.)

6: Visit the local graveyard before sundown on Halloween, and yes, I'd take the kids.

7: Teach my future family how to bob for apples.

8: Make sure that my future family feels that Halloween should be defined as much of a holiday as Christmas, no less! (This is something my own parents and sister don't feel strongly about, had it not been for me, they would've just considered it another day.)

9: Watch a Tim Burton movie every year. :)

10: Bake Apple/Pumpkin Pies

11: Eat a lot of candy. :)

12: Play Nox Arcana all over the house.

13: Visit Ireland and celebrate there.

Book Review: The New Death and Others

Someone dropped a comment the other day, asking if I'd write a review on his book. Here it is:

Title: The New Death and Others

Author: James Hutchings

Type of Book: A collection of short stories and poetry.

Subject Matter: Mythology, fairytales, poetry, morals, dark writing.

-The New Death and others is an entertaining book, a type of Dark fairytale scene with a side of poetry and a touch of 'modern' type writing.

-It has a very folklorish/legend type feel overall, and the characters are well presented and very realistic.

-This book mainly caters to an older audience, although childlike fairytale stories and morals are presented.

-The style is quite a mix of both informal and formal, modern and old classical literature.

My personal thoughts on this book:

This book was an interesting read, and I'd recommend it for all fans of folklore, poetry and dark themed literature.

The style of each of the short stories differs, or even intertwines old and new, such as classic deities speaking in modern times. Although The New Death and Others was a little too abstract for my personal tastes, those who appreciate thought inducing and less straightforward terms of fiction will probably find they most enjoy reading it.

I don't know much about what literature Goths would enjoy, but this seems like something that may be liked by those of you reading this review.

I take an example from one of the poems that I liked, "The Prince of the Howling Forest"

"On a miserable island they left him alone.

Though he carried no crown, though he sat on no throne

Death has crowned him at last, for in death he is known

as the Prince of the Howling Forest." <----This stanza is the end, but this part was my favorite.

Well I guess that's it. I am sorry I have nothing more to say, but I guess the best thing to do now is to have a look at the book yourself and draw your own opinions.

Again, as I've said: Don't be put off by my personal ideas, I am very picky about what I like to read. For those more open minded than me this may be an absolute jewel. :)

Overall:

Well written, if a bit abstract, a mix of fantasy and modern times, dark morals and tales, and a side of gloomy poetry and legend.

I hope you thought this review was alright, and that you'll read the book!

Friday the 13th Things - My Favorite TV shows/Movies

Greetings!
This Friday the 13 things post is supposed to be my favorite TV shows, but as I don't have 13, (I don't watch much TV) I'll state movies.

                                     My 13 Favorite Movies and why I like them.


1: Lord of the Rings: Because I love anything J.R.R Tolkien wrote and even if the movie trilogy is a bit off center, it's still ranking among my top favorites. (Fantasy, medieval, magic, languages, AWESOME?)

2: The Wedding Singer: As I already talked about in an earlier post, I love this movie because it's 80s, a musical, and it's kind of cute...hehe. Yeah I'm still rambling about George...

3: Pirates of the Caribbean: Who am I to pass up a fantastic pirate movie with several of my favorite actors?

4: Zorro: I like old period movies, so of course this set was a fanastic view. Plus I thought the actors were quite good.

5: Alice in Wonderland: Yay Tim Burton! And awesome actors...

6: Repo! The Genetic Opera: It's a Gothic Rock Opera. That's just good. :)

7: The Hangover: Heh, I often like a good average comedy sometimes, this was one that I especially liked.

8: Benny and Joon: This movie, is just so cute. I've seen it 3 times now and still want to see it again.

9: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: This was funny, and yay Tim Burton!

10: Interview with the Vampire: Yes...I know it's not accurate but I still liked it...

11: The Corpse Bride: Cute, just CUTE! and YAY TIM BURTON :D

12: The Crow: Made me actually tolerate crows now. :P

13: The Phantom of the Opera: Musical!!

On another note, I will tell about the TV shows I actually DO watch.

1: Buffy the Vampire Slayer: At first I thought I'd hate it, but It's actually pretty fun.

2: Supernatural: Love love love.....The Paranormal, humor, awesome actors...

3: The Addams Family: This is just...awesome.

4: The Munsters: I like it better than the Addams, it inspired me to decorate my room with cobwebs...:D

5: Merlin: Yes, quite historically inaccurate, but rather charming all the same. A nice take on the legend.

Halloween Costume Post/Other Party Photos

As promised, I did form a Halloween costume this year, just to photograph.

TO be honest, I had no idea what to do this year, I thought first to be 'The lady of cobwebbing'...but that didn't sound too good, so I figured I'd just experiment and see what happened. That being THIS:

I hope you all had a fun and spooky Halloween/Samhain/All Hallows Eve.

I thought for me it'd be a letdown, as again this year I was unable to trick or treat...:( But it still turned out to be quite fun anyway.

I carved 4 turnips (Traditional Irish Jack o' Lanterns!) and two home grown pumpkins. Sadly, they look quite green, being Australian, but they look quite cute non the less.

Outfit Post: Corset blouse and Black Maxi

Greetings!
I've summoned up enough ideas in order to create another average outfit, but this time consisting of my new floor length net skirt and my corsetted blouse.

(Please excuse my dopey expressions and generally bad poses. I'd been out in the SUN all morning.)

My face clearly states how ridiculous I get when attempting to pose for a photo.

Outfit consists of: Black netted maxi skirt, black shorts, black corset blouse, silver cross.

All that time in the sun and I stupidly forgot to bring suncream. OH WOE IS ME...

Close up, my makeup is ridiculous as I only had about 3 minutes to apply it. My hair is just in braids and tied in a knot.

This outfit in general is not that uncomfortable, I wore it travelling on buses and walking a lot without much trouble.

However, the corset shirt in particular is a right nuisance. As it's a combination, there is no possibility of tightening it properly and as such it's too big and keeps sliding down. (Also I think it's a little too long.)

The skirt wasn't as bad, despite the fact that since it's a size about half of mine, (even as a waist skirt) it was still a bit constrictive.

Anyhow. That's my outfit for today, hope you found this interesting.

The Elitist Club - And a few other Topics

Greetings!
I'm on a post rampage, so forgive me if I seem to be posting more than usual.

Things have gone fairly well lately, though I regret to say that for the Halloween costume photo I have gotten completely stumped on. I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR!!

I was going to be a non sparkling vampire, but I don't have any costume materials...so hm. I think this year I'm going to have a very original costume...(Probably simple too)

Anyhow.

I'm also bouncing around in a flurry of excitement and panic, as down in Freo today I found a Medieval dress shop! Of course I forced mom in there and they had such amazing clothes I was ready to fall over.

As it turns out, I now have purchased a red and maroon dress with a bit of gold lacing at the front and back. Not as dark as I'd like...but it's so beautiful and fits me like a charm. Unfortunately said dress is being paid on laybuy...it'll be a month before I can pay it off and finally be able to get it.

Even though the dresses are expensive (Handmade) and selling fast, they have attracted both mom and I, and it seems that I may also be aquiring a second black dress, while mom is interested in one of light blue.

Romantic Goth, here I come....eventually. (After a month of working constantly....egh)

I was browsing various Goth sites on facebook, and I seemed to have stumbled on an elitist club...a page dedicated to 'TRAD GOTH and cyber/raver/synthpop and all things modern' hatred.

It was...amusing, to see their 'oh so horrified' comments when someone said they liked the Cruxshadows.

On another fbook page they recommended this Ehow page...which was so crazy it was sincerely laughable.

(By the way, before I found the Ultimate Goth Guide, pages like Ehow were what I thought were 'Legit Goth' eheheheheee...)

            How to Know if one is a True Goth - A post from Ehow.

1: Look for color. True Goths bathe themselves in black clothing and nothing else. They may possess their own unique style, but it won't include any colors of the rainbow. They also enjoy indulging in medieval-inspired clothing, such as corsets, fishnet stockings and bondage attire.

 (OMG I've been wearing color lately, I'm so obviously not a Goth after all! :D)

2: Check the make-up. A true Goth always wears make-up, including black eyeliner and black lipstick. They may also use white powder to give a pale appearance. Their hair is dyed black to coordinate with their clothing, although a few extraneous dark purple streaks in the hair are deemed acceptable.

(OH NO, I forgot to wear tonnes of makeup and dye my hair black this week, I'm a POSER!...LMFAO...this is seriously more like 'Spot the mallgoth'.)

3: Identify their art form. A true Goth is an artist and performs an art of some sort. True Goths are writers, musicians, folklorists, sculptors and painters. They rely on deep introspection to arouse their creativity.

(Ok, this was one of the smarter points...this could be taken as a serious thought...)

4: Quiz them on lyrics. A true Goth knows every word to every Cure song. This step weeds out the Goth posers each and every time.

(Obviously an elitist wrote this part. Hmph, I may have a good memory but that's just impossible!)

5: Ask them if they are Goth. A true Goth never labels themselves as being Goth. In fact, true Goths never label themselves at all. Only Goth posers make such ridiculous assertions.

(Uh....to a certain extent that's true, but honestly, aren't you going a bit far there? If you're being questioned you might as well tell the truth.)

Friday the 13 Things (Double post) 13 Favorite Hobbies

As I mentioned before, last week I forgot to post this survey, so I'm catching up all at once. :) Many THANKS to Hayley Callaway!

                                         My 13 Favorite Hobbies

1: Movie and Book critiquing. (An easy way to say this is that I am a Nitpicker.)..Generally boring people out of their minds by lecturing on all the movie vs book faults or how many errors a movie or book had.

2: Knitting...although my evil school moderator has asked me to make her a scarf...but considering she's one of my main enemies, no ---------- uh, way. (Have to keep this blog clean)

3: Blogging, of course is another hobby of mine.

4: Reading Classic fiction. It's fairly rare that you'll see me with a modern written book.

5: Drawing comic strips and chibis. I fail so terribly at art that all I can do is a bit of painting and chibi/comics.

6: Studying history and folklore/mythology. My favorites are Celtic, Medieval, Greek, and Egyptian.

7: Writing humourous short stories. And a little fanfiction.....*Shifts*

8: Lecturing. It's a living part of me. When a topic is brought up almost always I get dragged into some sort of debate or lecturing speech/rant.

9: Watching cheesey movies and TV shows. Examples: Mean Girls, Supernatural, Bend it Like Beckham and Merlin. (Merlin is so mythologically/historically innacurate...but the fact that's it's vaguely hilarious and yes...cute....I have become addicted to it. Same with Supernatural...I watch it for the cheesy cute moments, so I can go Aaaaw. OR start fawning over the characters....ehe...yeah...

10: Photography: I'm terrible at it, but I still like to try.

11: Filmatography: If I got the chance I'd LOVE to work on a movie. I'd film, design the costumes, write the script or act in it....it's been my dream all my life....but everyone has dreams that can't come true. :(

12: I enjoy pestering people and generally making bad jokes whenever an occasion arises, several times I've been nicknamed the jester, even though my whole family is pretty ridiculous. :D

Post - Goth Population Here

Greetings!
I am sorry to have not posted lately, but honestly I haven't had a decent idea for a post forever...I still don't :(, but I've decided to try. This post will narrow on the Goth scene within my city.

I was pleasantly surprised to note that Australia has at least made a slight effort to acknowledge Halloween, mostly rubbish plasticy cheapness but I did score a pack of fake spiderwebbing which I've been gleefully stringing about my room. (Will post pictures of the room soon, just need to get a better camera. GRR)

While poking through the Halloween section, I couldn't help but laugh...this year 'Sexy Adult Costumes' have made it into the rather kiddie looking spooky section. Oh dear. Some outfits include the typical nurse, police woman, and WTF Monk?!! I really don't get how a monk would fit in...:)

Halloween is just getting sillier every year. Well, now on to the main point.

One odd note also is the high number of Goths that seem to exist about the neighborhood, none very fancy looking but still Gothy enough to recognise. I still feel like a shy freak around any other Goths though so I just gave them a little smile and observed them a little.

For boredom's sake I kept a count for the last month. That's about 20 Goth girls total and 2 guys all in the immediate suburb. In the old area where I lived that count would've equaled the Mall Emo population. Also in the count are included a total of 4 punks.

(I don't mean to be nosy, but it's rather ethereal like to see another member of your subculture!)

I have to say I'm rather charmed by this knowledge. At least this means that the locals of my area shouldn't be inclined to randomly throw objects or insults at me or anyone else as we walk the streets! Probably why I haven't had any trouble yet besides shocked looks, Haha.

It's just wonderful really, I've even seen little jewelry stores and whatnot run by Goths and quite a few are over their 40s...not like the usual 17 to 25 year old population downtown in the city.

Even deathrockers and people with a lot of piercings I've seen working secular jobs, secretaries, shop assistants, marketers and suchlike. Sure, some may tone down their looks to corperate but they are still noticably Goth!

Sorry for that ramble...:)

To sum that up, it appears that Fremantle is quite a Goth friendly area. ALSO is attractive to Goths due to the fact that it's a heritage city with lots of old Victorian or Victorian Gothic styled architecture...plus an old cemetery that's existed since the 1800s. (I need to go there...Grrr.....)

Now a quick spotlight on the main city, Perth, W.A.

Perth on Friday nights has quite a decent crowd of Deathrockers and Cybergoths who come and sit in one particular area late into the evening. Although I've seen that people give them nervous looks sometimes, some still sit in the same area as the Goths and seem to be quite friendly with our types.

'The corner' as I used to call it when I was younger, also is made up of metal fans, bikers and punks.

Lots of emos and scenes too walk around there, but then again, people from all different backgrounds and cultures come to Perth downtown.

 Note: *Hehe, Marilyn Manson appears to have quite a fan base...That's 8 people with his band tee shirts I've seen yet. But those are fans, they do not look mallgoth or spooky in the least.*

Of Dislikes, Etcs, and Stuff

I come back to bore you with another post of utter idiocy. This time it's a random list of things I dislike, anything odd, and the Wedding Singer. :P

THINGS I DISLIKE. Please excuse me if I have offended you in any way. This is my personal opinion.

1: I really don't like hip hop, mainstream pop and rap...and in general most music from beyond the early 90s is quite out of my liking zone. (This does not apply to everything) The reason being is that the stuff today is pretty annoying to listen to and it seems like hardly any one can sing without the help of autotune.

2: I hate to say it, but I don't really like skulls and skull print on things too much. I don't know why, but they just don't sit with me.

3: For me to like a movie (Particularly a historical movie), the acting must be top notch, the script must NOT have any errors that make it sound like something out of hollywood, it must have flow, and there shouldn't be obvious slip ups or irritating people. (Aka Captain Obvious patrons.) Basically: Historical accuracy, believable plot, old style speech, no lazy modern talk.

For fun, here's an example of a COP. (Captain Obvious Patron):

Aragorn: "Draw out Sauron's armies. Empty his lands. Then we gather our full strength to march on the Black Gate."
Eomer: "We cannot achieve victory through strength of arms."
Aragorn: "Not for ourselves, but we can give Frodo a chance. We'll keep Sauron's eye fixed upon us...keep him blind to all else that moves.

Then the grand Captain Obvious moment.

Legolas: "A diversion."

*Yes, HELLO? Of course it's a diversion you twit!*

*I love Lord of the Rings, but moments like these make me bang my head against the wall.*

Most movies don't make it past my judgement, so please, if you want to enjoy yourself, never watch or discuss a movie with me. I'll spoil it for you without even trying. (Even movies that are my favorites still have me picking at them constantly.)

4: I don't like anime very much. I seem to only like traditional art like painting. (Again, I'm a terrible critic.)

5: Same goes for Hello Kitty. Living in Asia for a lot of my young life, I saw it every where and I was actually quite scared of it. So even now I don't favor it too much.

6: I like Emilie Autumn's style but her music is still taking it's time to crack my barriers. I find it okay, (It's growing on me) but I don't favor it that much yet.

7: I am scared of Santa Claus and Clowns...probably from too many horror movies and experiences as a child.

8: I despise some kinds of slang. We'll take a few examples. Barbie, for barbeque, Cat, for catalogue (this one in particular makes me feel sick every time I hear it), Footy, for football, Chook, for chicken...okay I'll stop now, but that's only a few of the most annoying ones.

9: I can't stand it when people have bad manners and spelling. My family's even gone so far as to nickname me "The grammar and manners police" when I constantly check them up.

10: Surprisingly, I don't like Joy Division that much.

Of all things Ungoth

Greetings! Today's post will be all the things I like and do that are not Goth. (Probably will have randomness thrown in, I am sorry. :)) The purpose of this post, however awful it may be, is to share with other baby bat's like myself that you can and probably will do things that other Goths may gasp at and facepalm.
But also not to worry about it. :) Well, that's part of my reason. The other is that I really feel like posting something during the beautiful hours of the night, aka 3:00 am. Unfortunately I am rather tired so excuse me if this sounds strange.

1: One of my favorite activities is...*Ehe* watching high school/chick flick/romance movies. Yep, that means Mean Girls, Sleepover Girls and other such things. (However, this does NOT include High School Musical...I can't sit through that.)

2: I rarely wear all black, although it is my preference. Nasty bright colored tee shirts from my wannabe preppy/scene days still wander my wardrobe, I am slowly evicting them. :)

3: As I quoted in the above, before I became Goth, I was a mainstream follower...Er...you could say I was very interested in looking 'cool' by becoming a hipster, scene, girly girl, or prep.

4: I do in fact listen to quite a few non Goth bands, though you won't find much modern mainstream on the list. Mainly 80s classic rock...with the exception of Rascal Flatts, aaand a little Marilyn Manson/Evanescence/Nightwish.

5: I own two pairs of extra furry brown Ugg boots. yes, sue me...but heck, I'm in Australia and Uggs are the only things I can wear to keep my feet moderately warm. BUT, I have a rule of never wearing them outdoors. That is just nasty.

6: I tend to get awful 'girly' moments where everything around me is 'cute' and possibly pink. For the most part I hate pink and girliness with a passion but there are those moments...

8: Hardly anything in my room is actually black, except two candles and the tissue box. The rest is in varying shades of crimson and purple.

9: Of TV shows, I'm ashamed to say I kind of like reality shows. RARELY!!!

10: I don't have a bat as a pet. :P. I instead have 4 rabbits, 3 canaries and a dog.

A mini post: My Raspberry Muffins!

I finally got around to making those muffins I was talking about a few days back. They were originally meant to be blueberry but I did that last time...so I tried raspberry with good results.

Unfortunately my best muffin recipe is in the hands of my friend who's rather protective of his cookbook...*I stole the recipe from there* so there's little hope I'll get it back.

But here are the photos of the back up recipe's result. Looks more like fat cookies but whatever...

I am surprised they actually tasted okay considering my cooking skills...

Monthly Post - 4th Month Goth

Greetings!
I am sorry that I didn't post this two days ago as I should've, but I had extra work this week.

Anyhow, moving on.

I just realised that instead of being 'Goth' for 3 months it was actually 4, so yes. SKIP! :) I was feeling bored that evening so I figured I'd host a mini celebration even though I am over that excitement phase.

Uh...mostly. *Shifty look*

As usual it was incense, organ and candles, although I kind of ruined the atmosphere by gorging myself with chocolate and potato chips. *Ehee*

Since my stripy tights arrived a few days before, I wore them with a puffy skirt, white frilly blouse and patterned black coat all day, with my hair done up in a high Victorian bun.

*I had been hoping to wear my hair in a more down style but it does have it's evil moments and right now no matter what I do my hair forms itself into a puffy straight afro. So I just channeled the puff into a nice puffy bun. :D*

When I went out that evening for a bus ride to the store, it was funny as I saw people taking numerous glances at me. The best part though was that they were mainly staring at my tights. Moments like those just make me laugh so much...

For the evening entertainment I watched the Queen of the Damned and even though I haven't read the book, I didn't really enjoy it at all because the storyline is full of loopholes!

(Yes, that's me. ULTIMATE movie/book critic. It's rare for me to actually kick back, relax and watch a movie without noticing it's various errors, however minor they are.)

Stuart Townsend makes an okay vampire, (But from what I've heard about it, he made a very poor Lestat) but the whole storyline was cheesy and error filled....not to mention the "Twilightish" ending. 'He finds his girl, turns her into a vampire to save her life and they walk into eternity.' Ok, maybe I'm wrong about this, but that whole thing just screamed Hollywood/Twilight.

And the loopholes, well...there was just too much left unsaid, the storyline moved too quickly and left various bits unfinished.

Oh dear. I've gone and rambled on again, sorry about that! (For fans of this movie, do excuse me, I just have a very bad habit of critiquing.)

On a brighter note I also watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show and absolutely loved it! It was so funny and well done....I still have the Time Warp song in my head. :)

I honestly can't say I made any huge improvements this month...besides forming better hairstyles and outfits than before.

Just today I picked up a corset shirt (Plastic bones :(), a crumpled white maxi skirt for summer Ice Goth look, and a couple of vertical striped shirts. All from the Op shop. :)

Well, I have little else that's good to say, and I need to go bake muffins anyhow.

Photo Post: Bed Hair and a Touch of Deathrock

Greetings!
Many of you liked the last photo post with the black/red lipsticks and Neo Victorian hairstyles...So, I decided to invent another style...Basically it's inspired by the big hair of the 1980s and Deathrock.

I'd watched a few tutorials on you tube for hairstyling and out of those I performed my own. So here goes! And yes, the lipsticks are back! Black and red/pink in use once again...(Due to a comment on the before post stating that I should swap them around for various styles.)

Note: If these look like bad quality, blame my camera. It really messed up today and made my hair look all dry and hay like.

The back is in a high pony tail turned bun, and my bangs and other hair are teased.

Heavy teasing in the front and a little teasing on the actual bun to create frizz and volume.

So, does black lipstick suit this style?

As you can see, my bangs need a cut.

This is the full side view so you can see the style.

Next time I might not do any teasing and just leave it straight.

The lipstick wasn't actually so bold looking, just thank my silly camera for making things out of proportion.

Fairly simple makeup here: Grey eyeshadow and black eyeliner pencil, black lipstick and bronzer on the sides. A touch of mascara also. Hm. Do I suit the more 'outlined' eye look?

Hair at it's puffiest. :)

Well, that's it. I like to think of this style as I fell out of my bed/I jumped out of my grave...with a side of hairstyling elegance. :D

For this style it's wise to use hairspray for full teased effect, but as I was lazing around I didn't bother.

My Summer as a Goth

Just a few days ago I read on 'Gothic Charm school' that there's a new movie in the making: My Summer as a Goth.

I'm not trying to copy any one else's posts on this, I am just posting this for my interest and as general information.

The more people post about this movie, the more others will know about it, so please write a post on this movie, everyone!

My Summer as a Goth is about a 16 year old girl, Joey, who visits her grandparents for the summer and ends up meeting and falling in love with local Goth boy, Victor.

Throughout the summer, Victor and his friends help to change her from an average teen girl into a Goth, and this portrayal is quite good in my opinion, as Joey is a 'realistic Goth' character.

The film itself is about making friends, falling in love for the first time, changing your way of life for the one you love and finding yourself.

This film is undoubtedly going to be good, as Jillian Venters is the Goth consultant, as such you know that little to nothing can go wrong here, (In other words, negative stereotypes about Goths may be lessened a bit by this film.)
