Halloween 2012 - Costuming and Carving

Greetings!

Here is the long awaited (Sorry for posting this late) post on Halloween. :)

 I didn't end up doing much, except the usual of reading folklore/carving/eating candy...*Shifts*

Although I wasn't able to Trick or Treat, I did dress up, here are the photos!

(Does this count as an outfit post? xD)

Costume: Witch. (Disney, fantasy, suchlike. I decided to be cliche, as I had never had a Witch outfit before.)

See the nails? xD. They were fun but hard to grasp stuff with. I pity anyone who actually has nails like these. :D

Bat wings? Plus smashing broom.

I've been waiting awhile to show you these lovely stripy socks! Found them in an Op shop (In an area full of scene kids) for only $1.

Sorry the shots are so bad! I spent an hour on my makeup, making myself really old and Witchy, but the stupid camera didn't pick it up. :(

Back when I watermarked my pictures...Ehee...Here's me as 'Mrs Lovett/Lydia Deetz.' Note: At that time, I hadn't actually seen Sweeney Todd, so I had no idea what I was doing.

Back when I had a better camera....*Sob* Although smaller, those pumpkins were grown out of our garden, and it was my first time carving stuff. :)

Note: New favorite movie I just watched: Stardust. Completely awesome, I intend to find the book and read it. :)

New favorite books: The Mortal Instruments. Absolutely amazing book series, and The Infernal Devices are EPIC BEYOND MEASURE as well. :P

Hmm, I might as well add Artemis Fowl to that list. xD

Halloween Shop Finds

I was supposed to post this a week ago, but due to Halloween preparations, I was late. *Sorry*

 Anyhow, here is a photo post of Halloween items I found in a little shop. Although I'd thought that Australia wasn't that festive, I was pleasantly surprised to find all of these:

Glow in the dark spiderwebs! Can be joined like this, or used as 4 individual corner pieces. I intend to put them in the corners of my room. :)

A black plastic rose, with just a hint of red at the top.

Cauldrons! All pretty tiny, but they're quite cute. <3 The large one says 'Witches' Brew'

These are amazing! In a dark room they have a faint glow when the little lamps are on. Plus PURPLE AND BATS! *squee*

Bad picture sorry. These are 10 Jack o' Lantern lights, that glow orange at night.

Same as the pumpkins, except these are ghost lanterns. :)

Kind of a weird picture, but this stuff is called 'Freaky Fabric' :D I plan to drape it over my wardrobe.

Well, those are all my finds. (Which shall be decorating my room for the whole year and beyond) Next post should be Halloween 2012, with my costume, and carving skills. :P

Friday the 13th Things - 13 Halloween Activities for my Future Reference

Greetings!
I am sorry to have not posted much, but between the rush that is catching up on late schoolwork, working double to pay off my medieval dress, and the fact that I haven't been sleeping all that well lately due to stress and bad dreams, I don't really have much good to say.

Also, I regret to say that on November 17 I forgot to acknowledge that it was a monthly celebration, me being 5 months as a Goth. Ah well. Come December it'll be the grand celebration of 6 months, I will catch up then.

Now, on with Friday the 13th Things Survey.

            Friday the 13th Things - 13 Halloween Activities for my Future Reference

1: Carve Jack o' Lanterns and Turnip Lanterns

2: Buy a myriad of candles and put them all over my future house.

3: Take my future children out to Trick or Treat

4: Tell stories about the origins of Halloween to my future children

5: Dress up in a traditional costume (Not one of those silly fairy/fireman/princess outfits, rather zombie, mummy, GHOST, vampire, such.)

6: Visit the local graveyard before sundown on Halloween, and yes, I'd take the kids.

7: Teach my future family how to bob for apples.

8: Make sure that my future family feels that Halloween should be defined as much of a holiday as Christmas, no less! (This is something my own parents and sister don't feel strongly about, had it not been for me, they would've just considered it another day.)

9: Watch a Tim Burton movie every year. :)

10: Bake Apple/Pumpkin Pies

11: Eat a lot of candy. :)

12: Play Nox Arcana all over the house.

13: Visit Ireland and celebrate there.

Halloween Costume Post/Other Party Photos

As promised, I did form a Halloween costume this year, just to photograph.

TO be honest, I had no idea what to do this year, I thought first to be 'The lady of cobwebbing'...but that didn't sound too good, so I figured I'd just experiment and see what happened. That being THIS:

As you can see, a cross between my own style, Lydia Deetz and Mrs Lovett.

And yes, I did include Mrs. Lovett's striped tights.

And considering the day before Halloween was my sister's boyfriend's birthday, I wore this costume while we had our little celebration.  Here's the photos:

I hope you all had a fun and spooky Halloween/Samhain/All Hallows Eve.

I thought for me it'd be a letdown, as again this year I was unable to trick or treat...:( But it still turned out to be quite fun anyway.

I carved 4 turnips (Traditional Irish Jack o' Lanterns!) and two home grown pumpkins. Sadly, they look quite green, being Australian, but they look quite cute non the less.

Outfit Post: Corset blouse and Black Maxi

Greetings!
I've summoned up enough ideas in order to create another average outfit, but this time consisting of my new floor length net skirt and my corsetted blouse.

(Please excuse my dopey expressions and generally bad poses. I'd been out in the SUN all morning.)

My face clearly states how ridiculous I get when attempting to pose for a photo.

Outfit consists of: Black netted maxi skirt, black shorts, black corset blouse, silver cross.

All that time in the sun and I stupidly forgot to bring suncream. OH WOE IS ME...

Close up, my makeup is ridiculous as I only had about 3 minutes to apply it. My hair is just in braids and tied in a knot.

This outfit in general is not that uncomfortable, I wore it travelling on buses and walking a lot without much trouble.

However, the corset shirt in particular is a right nuisance. As it's a combination, there is no possibility of tightening it properly and as such it's too big and keeps sliding down. (Also I think it's a little too long.)

The skirt wasn't as bad, despite the fact that since it's a size about half of mine, (even as a waist skirt) it was still a bit constrictive.

Anyhow. That's my outfit for today, hope you found this interesting.

October to do List

Greetings!
My brain has gone awry so give me some time to get things straightened out. For now I will bore you with my October to do list. Sorry. :)

                                OCTOBER TO DO LIST 2011

1: Go downtown and collect all the valuable sparse Halloween goodies. (Darn it Australia! WHY don't you celebrate Halloween like other countries?!)

2: Get my striped tights from the post and order a Victorian parasol for the nasty spring weather.

3: Knit another three lengths on that scarf I'm supposed to be creating.

4: Add another 5 candles to my room collection, if not more.

6: Finish creating my scrap book.

7: Finish reading Dracula

8: Research the Festival of Samhain, Celtic traditions and old Halloween folklore.

9: Watch Repo! The Genetic Opera

10: Watch Queen of the Damned just for the sake of it.

11: Watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

12: Bake cookies and muffins.

13: Finish the Addams family and start on the Munsters.

14: Go out and throttle the ice-cream truck driver for driving around so I can hear him but never find him in time to get some cheap ice-cream. (This is an example of my bad humour) :P

15: Visit the Fremantle Cemetary.

Goodness knows I won't be able to accomplish much of these, but it's worth a try...
